Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on helping children achieve their full potential in their daily activities, such as playing, learning, socializing, and self-care. Occupational therapists (OTs) work with children who have a variety of developmental, physical, neurological, or emotional conditions that affect their ability to perform daily tasks.

Pediatric OTs use a variety of interventions to help children develop their motor skills, sensory processing abilities, cognitive skills, and social-emotional skills. Some of the techniques they use include play-based therapy, sensory integration therapy, fine motor and gross motor exercises, self-care training, social skills training, and adaptive equipment or assistive technology.

The goal is to help children become more independent and confident in their abilities, improve their quality of life, and reach their full potential. To learn more about some of our common services, use the links below.

Concerned about your child?

Are you concerned about your child's development or feel your child may not be meeting his or her milestones?

A developmental screening, evaluation and assessment is a comprehensive analysis of a child’s physical (gross motor and fine motor skills), intellectual, language, sensory processing, self-help, and social-emotional development. It is usually conducted when a doctor or parent notices that a child is experiencing a developmental problem in one of these areas.

These tests are able to identify a child’s strengths and needs in all areas of development and help determine specific, early intervention (< 3 years) or educational (> 3 years) needs for a child. For details, refer to Screening/Assessments or contact us at info@creativekidstherapy.com
